Carter's 2nd/3rd Grade
The Thirty Ninth Week of School
Our rocks and minerals video went home this week.
We are finishing up writing birthday greetings for our summer birthday classmates. Some are working on a report on a rock or mineral. Then we are writing Father's Day letters. After that, is free writing and free movie making.
We are working on rocks and minerals activities using the scientific methods of identifying them. This week we worked on observing 29 rocks and minerals, noting the color, texture, surface(sheen, shiny, dull) and if it contained fossils or not. The afternoon of June 11th we visited the Windsor Minerals talc mine in Ludlow. Kelsey Marston's Mom works there and arranged our visit. Thank you to Crystal, Frank and Holly for driving!
Next week is a week of 1/2 days so teachers have time to box up their classrooms. Sorry for the inconvenience.
